Saturday Blues

Mom & Dad left for Kuching already this morning.

I sent them up to Luak Shell station after breakfast (they're driving the second car home).

Balik rumah tengok dapur terasa sedih sebab 2, 3 hari yang lalu mak sangat aktif di dapur menghasilkan makanan yang lazat-lazat belaka sampai kitorang semua jadi gemuk.

Even looking at dad's cigarette butts made me sad.

Hari ni nak melangut je la sepanjang hari.

First time, tak sabar nak pegi kerja. ANY kind of distraction would do (except camping).

I am on leave this whole week and after balik dari Brunei tak pergi mana-mana pun..but it's so nice to be on leave and not having to pack, unpack and getting on any flights for a change..

Yesterday, had things fixed around the house so kenala duduk rumah the whole day coz it took the contractors the whole day to work while we played UNO, Scrabble, Bingo, Snake & Ladder and cards while waiting....luckily my parents are around so we worked together to clean the house afterwards... sempat lagi my dad buat lawak...the day before kena tsunami sebab paip pecah, then kena volcanic ash pulak sebab habuk orang potong tiles tersebar ke serata rumah....

Today, we went out in the morning....hajat di hati nak ke Pasar Bekenu untuk cari udang galah....nak tau siapa yang mengidam? Dad, of course...and dia nak udang galah from sungai kat Miri/Limbang ok....coz rasa dia lain. Pening jugak sebab sekarang kan musim hujan mana ada orang pegi memancing... tapi syukur Alhamdulillah, mungkin sebab niat baik nak tunaikan hajat mak bapak, elok-elok turun dari kereta ada sorang makcik melintas bawak udang yang baru ditangkap guna bubu...besar-besar pulak tu....the timing couldn't be more perfect coz kalau miss beberapa saat je, that makcik mesti dah sampai pasar dah, dan udang-udang yang hanya 8 ekor tu mesti terpaksa berebut dengan orang-orang lain...sebab tak banyak ikan kat pasar...nelayan tak turun ke laut sebab gelora...

During our little road trip, Mom and Dad played a game....they challenged each other words in their own tongues (Dad guna bahasa Melayu Sarawak yang klasik and Mom guna bahasa Kedayan)...siapa yang paling banyak tak tahu maksud perkataan, dia yang kalah...the winner was Dad (of course).

Sempat jugak catch a few words yang saya tak pernah guna.....am putting a few down here..including some that I know but nice to share with you guys..

Bahasa Melayu Sarawak:

jejak kasih

a twist of fate (in this case an almost 4 hour wait at the Limbang-Brunei border), led us to getting in touch back with my mom's cousins in Bandar Seri Begawan...sebelum ni memang teringin nak carik balik diorang sebab masa kitorang kecik-kecik dulu memang selalu pergi menziarah, but eventually life got busier....

so, since the waiting at the border took up a lot of my energy, I decided to just check in into a hotel in Bandar and go cuti-cuti Brunei the next day....and idea brought me to track down my aunts and uncles using the phone directory and voila....we get to meet them up, talk over lunch...yada yada....and of all, add them on FB for mom's sake....

here's an 'old school' picture I found:

this is a photo of the aunts and uncles when they were little boys and girls....the 3 ladies are my maternal grandmother's sisters...I'm not familiar with the lady in the middle, but the other 2 neneks always went to my grandmother's house and also visited us at Kuching at times...

even though they're long gone by now, they still form a part of my childhood memories.

Sari Ratu

tadi, masa lunch time, one of my Indonesian colleagues kat office baru ni ajak semua orang kat dalam team pegi makan.....dia nak belanja, actually aku ada appointment dengan kawan lama nak makan dekat-dekat ofis je, tapi sebab aku tak nakla dicop sebagai budak-baru-yang-sombong-mentang²la-ko-kerja-kompeni-orang-putih, so aku tukar lunch date aku kepada minum petang dan join diorang...okla jugak, boleh beramah-mesra with the rest of the team....

restoran tu nama dia Restoran Sari Ratu, terletak kat Desa Pandan, kitorang ikut Jalan Ampang Hilir, tempat yang banyak embassy tu, so tak jam sangat...pergi dan balik dengan kereta seorang lagi Indonesian colleague yang lebih senior....siap ada supir dia yang ambik...hmmm, makes me wonder how much these Indonesian expats are getting paid...tapi, takpela kot....biarla itu rezeki diorang, rezeki aku dapat makan free and dapat rasa ada driver...huhu

ok, tu jelah....malam ni nak gi makan Korean BBQ pulak...actually aku tak minat sangat, sebab kena berusaha (i.e bakar sendiri) sebelum boleh makan, tapi my friends nak makan kat situ...aku pulak dah 2 malam tak keluar sebab penat giler...so since esok nak balik and kerja aku dah siap (sebab part yang aku plan nak fast forwardkan still kena tunggu input orang lain)....baik aku keluar je malam ni. chalo, nak balik....takde maknanya aku nampak macam terlebih rajin kat sini kan...

am back from my weekend in Mukah for a friend's wedding...huhu..naik pesawat twin otter made me claustrophobic, but I survived! well....I better be since I still plan to go to Mulu, Bario and Ba'Kelalan...
hmmm.....it feels so great to relax at home sweet home....tapi esok nak kena fly lagi... :(

I haven't decide whether I would bring my laptop along or not for this trip, so kalau tak update tu...you know why la kan....

TC: There's a new outdoor shop I nak beli parang.

Me: U nak beli parang nak bunuh siapa?

TC: Why do u think that?

Me: Because of the word parang.

TC: There r other uses u know.


Me: Yeah, but I would use it that way kot.

TC: u nak beli kamera lomo kan...Ada exhibition in library..selling there. **(as usual, topik akan ditukar bila saya mula merapu)


~just reached Miri last nite....today nak fly ke Mukah pulak...huhu..tapi pagi ni nak gi breakfast at my favorite place dulu... ;P

loserina yang merindu

minggu ni, hari-hari aku balik around 7pm...sungguh terserlah keloser-an saya...

kerja menumpang kat company orang ni betul-betul menyebabkan disiplin aku meningkat secara mendadak...yelah, semua benda nak kena time-write betul-betul....kalau nanti time-write tak setanding dengan kerja, nanti orang bising la pulak kan....and I like the challenge of this new field that I'm working on....menariks.

tapi, kekerapan berulang-alik dan downgrading dari rumah ku yang luas ke bilik hotel yang tak berapa luas is taking a toll on my health...nak makan pun aku tak selera walhal aku boleh makan apa saja yang aku suka sebab company bayar....penat siot....the way I arranged my workplan is to try to finish whatever I can only do in KL as fast as possible and then benda-benda yang aku boleh guna excel, aku boleh buat kat Miri je....sebab aku tak tahan duduk hotel lama-lama, nak tinggalkan rumah aku lama-lama, etc...

sebenarnya aku plan nak pegi sampai minggu ni je....then january tahun depan baru pegi lagi 2 minggu...tapi tak sempat siapla pulak....so, next week aku kena datang lagi....darn....dahlah weekend ni kena gi mukah naik twin otter....agh, suddenly the blissfulness of being a couch potato in the comfort of my living room seems to be a faraway reality...

malam ni nak rehat saja, esok nak bangun awal packing....esok balik naik AirAsia sebab my friend is coming to Miri pasal nak gi wedding tu sama-sama....so, terpaksala aku naik flight yang sama dengan dia kan....kalau aku naik MAS, kesian pulak dia kena tunggu aku kat Miri airport for another 2 hours...huhu, next week, aku kena make sure aku sampai before my mom arrive in Miri pulak....huhu, banyak sungguh perkataan Miri dalam ayat ni.

walaupun aku tau tiada yang menunggu di Miri (T_T)....but still I can't wait to go home to these...

Nampaknya badi Sehati Berdansa turut melekat kepada juara Sehati Berdansa 3, Sein dan Nana. Sein dan Nana telah sah bercerai dengan talak satu hari ini. Takziah kami ucapkan kepada mereka sekeluarga.

Sein dan Nana telah berkahwin sejak tahun 2006 dan memiliki 2 cahaya mata. Kedua-dua anak mereka masih berumur kira-kira 3 dan 4 tahun. Semoga penceraian ini tidak menjejaskan masa hadapan anak mereka.

Takziah sekali lagi. Semoga kedua-duanya akan lebih tabah menghadapi masa hadapan.

Delhi chatter #1

ok....let's start story-mory about my trip to Delhi....

Firstly, mesti ada yang tanya apasal la nak pergi Delhi of all the places of the world....there's a lot of not so nice perception about India in general and if you search the web, there's zillions of travel tips/stories about India. Bear in mind that  India is a big country with a billion population, and the experience that you're going to have there is directly proportional to the place you're going to and the size of your wallet. Since I've been traveling quite melampau this year, so my trip to India was on semi-backpacker's budget (I said semi coz I didn't dare to go on a backpacker's budget in India).

Actually, lama dah teringin nak pergi India....for the travel experience ye kawan-kawan, memang sedari awal my expectation bukannya nak pergi bercuti-cuti. The first time nak pegi, niat terpaksa dibatalkan pasal kisah pengganas kat Taj Hotel itu hari.....then hari tu AirAsiaX buat promotion new route to India. I chose Delhi because from there boleh pegi Agra tengok Taj Mahal. Pegi 5 hari je sebab tak cukup cuti dan tak berani nak duduk lama-lama sebab don't really know what to expect. The best thing is, we only had to pay RM161 for our return tickets which are taxes only, coz the base ticket price is only RM0.

The second best thing is for RM161 we got the premium tickets...ni kira business class la for AirAsiaX. Ada 12 seats je.

 the price of the ticket (which is RM0 in our case) includes a bottle of water, and the use of the blanket and pillow....tapi takleh bawak balikla, kalau nak bawak balik kena beli....AA kan, biasala tu..

makan pun free jugak....vegetarian briyani ni sangat, sangatla sedap...

We had a really nice 5 hours' flight. Sampai-sampai je kat Indira Gandhi International Airport yang baru, New Delhi looks promising....yelah kan, airport baru ni diorang buat sempena Sukan Komanwel yang lalu kot....cantik jerr....dengan carpet segala.

Dekat luar arrival hall pun, takde manusia yang bersesak-sesak or taxi touts jerit2 nak dapatkan penumpang...before I went, my friend Rush Murad who went to Delhi in January warned me how to deal with  people at the taxi counters and the taxi itself....tapi rasanya tu kat airport lama kot....we found the driver from our hotel holding a placard with my name on it and off we went with the driver to the car......

Hehehe, ini baru cerita pasal tiba di New Delhi, nak tau macam mana rupa hotel kitorang...tunggu....

opinions opinions....

nak tanya korang.....patut tak aku remove je orang-orang yang suka mengumpat dari facebook list?

NZ: grab it while u can!!

Pssttt….I know that I said I’m not going to travel anywhere next year….2011 is for cost recovery year….but I can’t help it when TC told me that Air Asia is doing opening sales for their new route to Christchurch, New Zealand…..talk about peer pressure.

So guess what? I told him to book me one way ticket since if my little brother does well in his SPM, my other ***** brother told him that we’ll bring him to NZ…. My condition was if he got all 11A’s, but my other ***** brother (who’s going to pay for half of it) said 7A’s pun takpe…..pfffttt…..kalau akulah ada abang kakak macam ni dulu, mesti aku dah dapat 20A masa aku nye SPM. Downside of being a firstborn…

TC confirmed that he already booked my ticket in September….huhu….thinking of doing the whole country and go back via Auckland naik MAS or RBA. It’s time to revive contact with my Kiwi friend. Woot woot.

If korang interested, come la….sale tu baru start pukul 7.oo pagi tadi sampai 5 Dec for travel period within April – November 2011. Grab it while u can!

gemuk genit macam tempayan

saya jarang ada kat office di Miri sekarang ni, so I feel flattered jugakla bila ada manusia-manusia yang ngumpat pasal I masa I takde....yelah, they spent a few minutes of their precious time (work time to be exact) just to talk about you....masa itu emas, so they're spending gold on me, tak gitu?

Anyway, gambar ni lah yang menjadi topik perbualan mereka:

kenapa? well.....diorang cakap saya nampak cerah dan kurus dalam gambar tersebut dan ini bukanlah gambar saya.....siap beriya-iya cari gambar saya yang lain untuk banding-bandingkan.....amusing la diorang ni.....if they miss me, cakap je la kan.....macam some of my friends yang tiba-tiba hantar message tanya "when r u back in Miri?" huhuhuhu....tetiba terasa diri disayangi. 

Anyway, gambar kat atas tu was taken after I lost 4kg because of heartbreak (T_T), ambik guna camera handphone yang low resolution so tak nampakla jerawat dan yang sewaktu dengannya, dan lighting yang perfect boleh membantu keadaan. Sekarang ni saya dah gemuk genit macam tempayan, tapi saya rasa masih boleh kot nak dapatkan gambar yang nampak kurus, ok tak kalau guna contoh kat bawah ni:

hmmmmm....

the downside of looking younger than your age:

-people don't take you seriously
-they treat you like kindergarten's students
-you're not being spoken to coz they thought you're an intern
-they thought you're gullible

but you'll love the surprise on their faces though

11 days...

just checked-in...the room is smaller than Nikko (Nikko is almost 2 times bigger) and I have to walk quite far to work tomorrow...but at least the room is brighter, less depressing and the most important it has StarWorld (Channel 711)!!!!!!!! It's a difficult live without my favorite channel...huhu drama drama...

I'm quite nervous actually. Will I have enough time to finish my tasks? Aduiyai....hopefully I will...not planning to make business trips again until end of the year.....I want to entertain my family who are coming to Miri one whole week...woot woot can't wait!

No Room at the Inn in India

For a while now, there have been reports that the hotel scene in India is getting overheated. But are you ready to pony up $450 a night in New Delhi?

According to an AP article that ran over the weekend, demand for hotel rooms in India has gone from "heavy" to "sold out." This won't come as a shock to anyone who has traveled to underbuilt Bangalore in the past few years, but the problem is now extending to most large cities and tourist centers.

India "immediately needs another 100,000 rooms" -- more than double the current amount -- said Lalit Suri, the chairman and managing director of India's Bharat Hotels. He estimated that would require investment of up to $17.4 billion.

A total of 300 hotel projects have been approved by the government and are in varying stages of development.... Most are likely to be completed in the next three years and should increase capacity by about 75,000 rooms, he said.

Nearly half of the new projects are luxury hotels, and account for about $1.58 billion in investment....

So if you're heading to India expecting to find a bargain--which would normally be logical considering the average earnings here--think again. The average price of a 5-star hotel in India has climbed to $325 a night.

I'll put the flowers for you to step on

I have no idea what to post for today so I went looking into my drafts. This is a note I wrote a day after I broke up on my FB notes....hancur giler hati masa tu....sebab tulah tulis macam-macam...I removed it from my FB the day after though. Since I'm 100 times ok now...so share jelah ngan korang..




I still remember my trip to South Korea with the sistas...lots of things to remember and one of it is this poem by Kim So Wol, apparently it is very popular...since you can buy it carved on a piece of rock and sold as deco in their equivalent of RM2 shop...for some reason, I still keep the words with me...this is the translation (though I think it does not really do justice to the poet who wote it beautifully in Korean)..

We're taking the A/C super luxury coach to Agra. Hopefully it will live up to its name....

nak naik train, confirm ramai orang....train kat sini pelik, even though ko dah beli tiket, kalau seat takde, they'll just refund your money....maka terkapai-kapaila ko cari jalan pulang sendiri....

kalau naik kereta (with driver), harga dia Rs11000 (almost RM800) untuk kitorang berdua.....after our experience today, I realize the value of comfort in this overpopulated place, but I don't have RM800, even though pagi tadi aku sudah berjaya keluarkan duit dari HSBC,,,huhu

so, bus it is.....please pray for my safe journey ya....
