AFUNDI
3 days back, my mak angkat called me and asked why I haven't been to her house for a long time (actually it's like 2 weeks). So, with the remaining few hours of the weekend, I went to her house. They were watching Akademi Fantasia 8. I don't follow this season at all, coz none of the contestants interest me. But my mak angkat is very excited to watch it because one of the contestants look like his late son who passed away 3 years ago. The guy's name is Shahir. He is a member of the nasyid group Saujana. My mak angkat said that the way Shahir smiles and his gaze reminds her very much of arwah. She was quite stricken when Shahir was announced as one of the bottom three. Thankfully, Shahir is safe this week from being eliminated. She asked us to vote for him so that he can stay and she can watch him longer. I think that is an easy enough thing to do. One vote costs RM0.50. Any of you friends out there interested, type AFUNDI SHAHIR to 32999 or if u want to vote for 3/5/10 votes, type AFUNDI5 SHAHIR to 32999.

Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
written by Baz Luhrman
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience…
I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….
You’re not as fat as you imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel. Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders. Don’t expect anyone else to support you.
Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen..

7 notes of music
I am a big fan of Sheila on 7. Maybe not a really big fan like Cik Tukang Cakap, but considering I don't really go all out when I took a fancy of any star and the fact that I bought a few of their original albums, hence I consider myself a big fan of them.
I heard this song on the radio while driving back from lunch.....terkinja-kinja sekejap dibuatnya...

Seberapa Pantas
by Sheila on 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seberapa pantaskah kau untuk ku tunggu
Cukup indahkah dirimu untuk selalu kunantikan
Mampukah kau hadir dalam setiap mimpi burukku
Mampukah kita bertahan di saat kita jauh
Seberapa hebat kau kubanggakan
Cukup tangguhkah dirimu untuk slalu kuandalkan
Mampukah kau bertahan dengan hidupku yang malang
Sanggupkah kau meyakinkan di saat aku bimbang
Celakanya
Celakanya
Hanya kaulah yang pantas untuk kubanggakan
Hanya kaulah yang sanggup untuk aku andalkan
Di antara pedih aku slalu menantimu
Mungkin kini kau t'lah menghilang tanpa jejak
Mengubur semua indah kenangan
Tapi aku slalu menunggumu di sini
Bila saja kau berubah pikiran

Telenovela Cinta Part 2
**Amacam....still wanna know what happen next?

the beauty of a moment in time... :)
I just luurrve this photo and I really really want to share it here......this was taken during my sister's engagement day on Feb 14th.....at the very right is my mum, and my aunt is at the middle.....I'm leaning my chin on my little sister's head....the lady in green is my cousin and the baby girl is hers....for some reason, I call the baby Mulan Jameela. The other chubby girl is Athirah, another niece of mine....I love chasing her around and playing with her everytime I see her.....sangat comel ok....and she knows how to act like a 'latah' person even though she's not actually 'latah'.....note that the color of the pelamin matched the color of my dress more than it did my sister's....that was unintentional, as I didn't even know that there's going to be a pelamin when I packed and went on the flight....I was so busy being the runner of the day, that I didn't even put on makeup as I planned to...~sigh....tengok gambar ini bikin hati saya jadi rindu.....

Telenovela Cinta Part 1
Entah bagaimana, saya bermimpi terjumpa cinta pertama saya. Dia datang ke rumah, bermesra bersama adik-beradik saya (as if they are catching up on all the lost years).
*it's getting long and we've only just begun, macam tulis novel la pulak kan.....so, nantikan sambungannya....

on serendipity...
What are the odds?
that just when you are hoping that a certain someone would notice you...
then on a very sleepy Monday, you decided to put on a nice dress, albeit already being late for work....
wear your new high heels even though it has been ages since you have ditched them for the sake of comfort..
managed to make yourself look very presentable despite your lack of sleep..
you managed to find a decent parking spot despite your extreme lateness...
and just when you are walking so demurely (have to be careful with the high heels)....
that someone suddenly appear out of nowhere and cross your path,
and you even managed to say 'hi' to him without making a fool out of yourself?
Serendipity
makes me smile and feel that this life is still worthwhile
even though kepala aku pening gila hari ini

The Devil Wears Bata
Before I start my story, I just want to say that I'm homesick right now. It has been 32 days since I was last in my hometown and 18 days since I last board a plane...*luahan jiwaku yang sengsara dan merindu ibu...huhu*
Hence, being "sebatang kara" in Miri, together with friends, we tried to fill the void of the weekends that we have to spend here, as much as we can. One of such activities is "merayau" at the malls...and that was what I did last weekend with my friends, TC & Miss E.
Miss E picked me up around 2.30pm and then TC from his place. Since we couldn't come to a mutual agreement on watching movie or singing at the karaoke "jamban"....so we just had lunch at KFC, and window shop at Boulevard & Bintang MegaMall...sangat fun ok.....Miss E bought a lot of things that day and she swears not to go window shopping again....hahaha....dia ni pun satu, aku cakap benda ni, benda tu elok....dia beli...(which also makes me happy because seeing people buy things that I like give me the same satisfaction as if I'm the one buying it myself... ;P )...actually, I was also hunting for a nice pair of sandals at Bata for leisure use, but of coursela it was Miss E who came out of the shop with an extra carry bag..(karma has it that everytime I really want to look for something, I will never find one that I like and suitable for me)...
So, after all that shopping Miss E was saying out lod that she has shopped too much.
Miss E: I've spent more than RM200 in less than an hour!
me: itula pasal...aku pun belum beli apa-apa sangat.
TC: (to me) That is because you're influencing her laa....the DEVIL. You.
Miss E: But she sounds convincing that I just have to listen to her.
TC: That's why....you see, DEVILS ARE CONVINCING....that's what DEVILS do!
me: See....E listens to me and she looks good....you, never listen to me and....tengokla sendiri **I made a reference to his overall appearance and selekehness. Enough said.**
Anyway, I like my friends the way they already are. At least none of the people I called friends are the pompous, pretentious type. And that includes YOU, whoever is reading this... :)

Zharif
I visited my late cousin's facebook page just now. His family has been keeping the account active, maybe in some way it help them deal with the loss as well as taking comfort in friends who care and leave their comments there...his SPM result just came out and it is beyond what we expected from him. But then again, we are human. From Allah we came, to Allah we return.
I saw what my aunt wrote on his wall and it brought tears to my eyes...
Pada masa hidupmu,
emak banyak mendapat nasihat,
Hari ini, pada hari pemergianmu,
nasihat lebih banyak lagi emak dapatkan.
........
I feel so uber-cool
*a friend of mine forwarded this article to me since I might go here in a few months' time by myself...so, entri ini mungkin ada unsur-unsur riak sedikit (my comments in pink)...anyway, if you think I mengada-ngada...budak ini lagi mengada-ngada (tapi menghiburkan).
10 ways to not be a New Yorker
by:Robert Reid
Lonely Planet Author
There is no right way to see New York. Want to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, a Broadway play? Fine, so do many locals. But other things more easily separate visitors from New Yorkers.
HOW TO NOT BE A NEW YORKER
1. Spend at least 20 seconds at South Street Seaport. This commercialized strip of shops and that confounded ‘Bodies’ exhibit has never seen a single New Yorker come without the company of out-of-town guests. Not one. *not in my plan either.
2. Walk around Times Square, a lot. Even hardened locals pause a second to admire the lights of Times Square on occasion. But few ever spend more than 10 minutes there, and zero would consider going more than once in a month, much less on a three-day weekend. *not going to spend 3 days straight here anyway, gonna spend a few hours of the first 1.5 days in this area to go to see some buildings and such, then off to DC/Philly/Niagara Falls for the next 3 days and the remaining 3 days, I'm staying in Brooklyn with 1 full day of shopping agenda..hehe.
3. Be scared of East Village’s St Marks Avenue. And its punks, tattoo parlors, ‘New York F***ing City’ t-shirts, plus the Chipotle Mexican-food chain in the building where Andy Warhol once staged his wild ‘Exploding Plastic Inevitable’ events. It’s not remotely dangerous. Just go, be a bit trepid, then brag about it afterwards. *it's not wise to feel scared or overly confident, especially when you're traveling alone....pandai-pandaila nanti jaga diri. InsyaAllah...
4. Skip Brooklyn.(maksud dia, jgn tak pergi ke tempat ini) This ’90s throwback will separate you from being any local, who knows you get more space, less stress and pressure — and frequently better-value meals — at Brooklyn restaurants in Boerum Hill, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Ditmas Park or Williamsburg.*quoting Carrey Bradshaw from SATC The Movie - "Brooklyn is the new Manhattan". This is where I'm planning to stay - www.zip112.com ....the view from the balcony is just so amazing!
5. Take a double-decker bus tour. If you want to see New York by one, go ahead. But don’t expect any street-cred points looking down from the open top. New Yorkers prefer buying an all-day subway/bus pass, getting a free bus map, and crisscrossing Manhattan on their own. It’s much much cheaper ($8.25 vs $39) and you don’t have to listen to the guide the whole way. *yess! memang I plan to take the subway pun. $24 for a 7-day pass.
6. Order a ‘piece of cheese pizza.’ Locals call it a slice here. You can just say, ‘gimme a slice, guy.’ And you’ll get that piece of cheese, nice and toasty. *I'll keep that in mind...but I think I always say slice anyway..
7. Go to Wall Street or Midtown on weekends. It’s deserted. Though busy, the areas are alive Monday to Friday. *not too high on my priority list of places to visit
8. Eat in Little Italy. And debate in whispers whether the waiter and people at next table are in the ‘goodfellas.’ (The diners are from Houston, though we’re not so sure about the waiter…) As dining goes, Little Italy is wayyy past its prime. Go to Roberto’s in the Belmont of The Bronx for the real(er) thing. *I don't really travel for food, anyway...anything would do
9. Point at the rats. They say there’s always a rat within five feet of you at any time in New York. You’re most likely to see them around garbage after dark or on the subway tracks any hours. Locals take it easy, and don’t point or squeal. Unless the rat’s on the subway platform. Then it’s prison rules for all. (By the way, the exact same rule applies for celebrities.) *Miri banyak tikus, aku tak heran, kecuali kalau dia merayap kat kaki aku la...celebrities...tengok muka sombong diorang tu ko nak point and squeal pun takde selera...
10. Exhibit any US geographical knowledge. Other than New York, New Jersey, Florida and California. Every other state should be confused for North Dakota. (Little known fact: New Yorkers have the world’s worst sense of geography.) *I don't really bother anyway...except for special reasons...
hehehehehe...sangat suka baca article ni sebab boleh berlagak dengan TC that I'm not as j**** as he thinks I am...
Amiin.
10 ways to not be a New Yorker

100th post
yes, this is my 100th entry in this blog. to my friend TC, I told u I will keep writing...bluek!
Actually the reason why I haven't been dusting this blog is because I wanted to write something special for the 100th entry and then reward the first reader of this entry to a nice meal...on me. Heheheheh....but I feel like a narcissist la pulak...hence the lack of idea.
However, a stupid quiz I took in FB compelled me to write about it. It's a quiz for the singles only. And this is my result:

However, a stupid quiz I took in FB compelled me to write about it. It's a quiz for the singles only. And this is my result:
Your Result, (retake): Stop Everything RIGHT NOW and call your "Back-Up Plan"
Congratulations, your Soul Mate is single, available right now and you have their phone number saved on your cell phone. You most likely talk to this person all the time. The problem is, you are too busy looking for that right person in all the wrong places. You have been dumped and disappointed countless times within the past few years, all because the people you've been chasing are too busy looking for their Mr or Mrs Right the same way you are. That is why you fail at love almost every time. But, you have 1 perfect partner in your life right now that you consider your 'back-up plan.' You don't want to attempt to date your 'Back-Up Plan' because if it doesn't work out then you are left starting from scratch. Its time to put that person center stage 'NOW' because it is quite possible that they are moving on and about to drop you totally. Who is that person you talk to regularly that may live out of town or isn't quite the 'winner' you're looking for, who always is honest, makes you feel good whenever you speak to them, has gone out of their way to accommodate you and would do anything for you if you asked? It's time to give them a call because you won't be able to much longer
Hmmm.....I guess in a way I do have backup plans....some individuals that I knew since long long time ago...who'll always entertain to my beck and calls.
But I don't think this is the time though.
I just want to embrace life as it is.
Free spirited.
I'll take my chances when I really really need to do so. (i.e when I need to reproduce...haha)
It's just a silly FB quiz to begin with, anyway.
and just to see how silly it is, I took some more quizzes and this "Who will you marry??" quiz.
the answer is...jeng jeng jeng...
Your Ex!
You might have done something wrong with him but theres still love there and you should expiriment with that one more time♥
