Chalte Chalte

Life is so busy nowadays that I barely have time to facebook, let alone blogging...
I think I might have to reduce from proper blogging to just microblogging (oops, that's the purpose of twitter and facebook status ain't it?)

Anyway...

house: almost ready... hehehehe.... tengah dalam proses nak menyiapkan our playroom... actually nak biarkan je dulu... but since lil' bro dapat study kat KL and he's bringing his X-Box with him... the other brother sangat semangat nak siapkan the room... siap volunteer to alih-alih barang and clean the floors.... tapi, area lain... aku jugak yang kena buat sorang2...

AirAsia sale hari ni, tapi I tahu lambat... tapi menggatal jugak tadi carik tiket mana nak pegi and still murah... the choice was between place XXX and Seoul.... kosnye lebih kurang je sebab XXX kena apply visa lagi... but guess, where we are going? XXX dan bukan Seoul...

Clue untuk XXX

game plan

In my work, everytime we are about to drill a well, we'll do the drilling or logging well on paper exercise, where we will engaged all the parties involved to sit down and discuss what are the requirements needed to accomplish a successful operation.

So far, I have engaged the "tuan rumah" and I've already known what level of readiness they're on for tomorrow. The contractors will still be doing work on the kitchen hence I would not be able to unpack my kitchen stuffs, meaning I have to do it myself some other day. The furniture shops will do the delivery also on the same day with my movers, so I have to ensure that not so many people have to work on assembling the things in the same room / space.

This is what I came up with. Poyo tak? :P

LOSE 20 FOR 20

It has been a good Miri week.

I had custard buns for tea everyday for these 3 days.

No matter how late I come to office, 3 out of 4 days I managed to get really good parking spaces.
And that applies to when finding parking at the crowded Bintang Megamall as well.

My boss(es) accommodated all of my requests… (menyesal pulak tak request for overseas course)

And since I feel so lucky this week, I guess it's a good time to start a new project.. kalau korang tengok kat penjuru atas sebelah kiri tu sudah ada ticker… 20 for 20.. actually it started with my 2 friends that I hang out with in KL…for the new year they have this "Lose 30 for 30" project… to lose 30 kg as this year they are turning 30.

As for me, I think to lose 30kg macam banyak sangatla pulak….hilanglah trademark bontot tonggek aku….hahahaha…unless if I changed it to Lose 30(pounds) by the age of 30 (another 2 years for me).
But then, I've been trying out my nice blouses and dresses over the past few days and noticed a lot of them are getting really tight. I can't even button some of my old jeans. Thus, I'm coming up with the "Lose 20 for 20" thing for myself.

20 kg for the 20 dresses that I want to fit comfortably into. Hopefully I can be disciplined enough to stick to it…. Am gonna start with buying a new pair of running shoes and a couple of rounds around KLCC park.

Wish me luck, eh?

kisah aku yang hyper lepas minum kopi ali jaga

Bulan puasa kali ni agak meriah...plan asal nak bukak posa simple kat rumah je hari-hari so that can lose weight, tapi so far dah puasa ke 20 pun hari ni, baru 3 hari je bukak posa kat rumah sorang-sorang.

Dulu-dulu aku memang rajin ajak kawan-kawan datang rumah and even cooked for them. But nowadays memang nan hado sebab malas, last time aku buat makan-makan pun time bulan puasa tahun lepas.....but since I joined a few potlucks already, so memang takde alasan untuk escape bila madam boss keluarkan arahan that Wednesday will be my turn pulak...I think the last time I actually cleaned my house was in December, masa family aku datang Miri, so korang do the maths la dah berapa lama aku tak kemas rumah....

That and ditambah dengan aktiviti aku tahun ni yang memanjang takde kat rumah telah menyebabkan rumah ku agak terabai (except for the occasional sapu²)....so semalam dengan semangatnya pergi beli mop dan penyapu baru...penyapu lama ada, tapi saja beli penyapu baru kat kedai dua ringgit sebagai motivasi. Sebenarnya boleh je upah orang untuk kemas rumah, but being the territorial type, aku memang bermasalah sikit kalau strangers pegang barang-barang aku...friends and family bolehla..kalau nak tolong kemas rumah aku memang dialu-alukan (*hint *hint).

Resepi Best Ciptaan Saya

Bahan-bahannya:

1. Seorang adik yang akan berkahwin
2. Majlis bertandang yang baru ditentukan tarikhnya
3. Perancangan perjalanan yang separa lengkap
4. Syarikat penerbangan A yang sesuka hati mengubah tarikh
5. Syarikat penerbangan B yang sesuka hati menaikkan harga
6. 4 hours worth of road trip untuk ke kampung bakal adik ipar
9. Distraction secukup rasa
10.Emak yang blur sebagai hiasan
11.Sifat mengada-ngada secukup rasa

Langkah-Langkah Menyediakannya:

1. Pilih tarikh kahwin. (Sebelah pengantin perempuan).
2. Kakak pengantin beli tiket untuk majlis 1 dengan syarikat penerbangan A.
3. Syarikat penerbangan A menukar masa penerbangan menjadi sangat sesuai dan tidak berbaloi.
Emak memberitahu tentang tarikh majlis bertandang. Kakak menukar bahan 8 untuk majlis bertandang (one way) sahaja dan dikenakan caj tambahan sebanyak RM70.
6. Kakak pergi ke syarikat penerbangan A untuk menukar flight secara percuma (first time tukar je percuma).
12. Jadi, kakak mengada-ngada tukar bahan 8 untuk perjalanan balik bulan puasa (alasan: rindu masakan emak yang blur). Kena bayar denda RM50.Tiket ini untuk one-way sahaja.
14. Kakak beli tiket balik dari trip bulan puasa (langkah 12).
15. Kakak update travel plan dan baru perasan kesilapannya.
16. Biarkan kakak masak dengan perasaan bengang buat seketika. (Dahla kakak itu tengah tight budget sampai hujung tahun ni).
17. Gaul hingga sebati. Tutup periuk dan biarkan mendidih. Tuangkan dalam mangkuk jenama blogspot.

Hasilnya:

3 tiket balik ke MYY pada 8 Ogos (satu tu memang confirm tak nak naik sebab awal sangat, so on that day boleh pilih yang mana satu nak pakai).

P/S: Actually tahun ni, nak isi sampul duit raya tu dengan banyak sikit saguhatinya...but looking at the current situation, macam less budget for duit raya tahun ni...so aku nak sedia XX paket jelah...siapa cepat dia dapat!

Korang mesti ingat aku el-cheapo gilerr kan....but looking at how many balik kampung trips I have to make and other trips, I have to be aware of my budget.

I feel so uber-cool

*a friend of mine forwarded this article to me since I might go here in a few months' time by myself...so, entri ini mungkin ada unsur-unsur riak sedikit (my comments in pink)...anyway, if you think I mengada-ngada...budak ini lagi mengada-ngada (tapi menghiburkan).

10 ways to not be a New Yorker

by:Robert Reid
Lonely Planet Author

photo by: Richard Cummins, Lonely Planet

There is no right way to see New York. Want to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, a Broadway play? Fine, so do many locals. But other things more easily separate visitors from New Yorkers.

HOW TO NOT BE A NEW YORKER

1. Spend at least 20 seconds at South Street Seaport. This commercialized strip of shops and that confounded ‘Bodies’ exhibit has never seen a single New Yorker come without the company of out-of-town guests. Not one. *not in my plan either.

2. Walk around Times Square, a lot. Even hardened locals pause a second to admire the lights of Times Square on occasion. But few ever spend more than 10 minutes there, and zero would consider going more than once in a month, much less on a three-day weekend. *not going to spend 3 days straight here anyway, gonna spend a few hours of the first 1.5 days in this area to go to see some buildings and such, then off to DC/Philly/Niagara Falls for the next 3 days and the remaining 3 days, I'm staying in Brooklyn with 1 full day of shopping agenda..hehe.

3. Be scared of East Village’s St Marks Avenue. And its punks, tattoo parlors, ‘New York F***ing City’ t-shirts, plus the Chipotle Mexican-food chain in the building where Andy Warhol once staged his wild ‘Exploding Plastic Inevitable’ events. It’s not remotely dangerous. Just go, be a bit trepid, then brag about it afterwards. *it's not wise to feel scared or overly confident, especially when you're traveling alone....pandai-pandaila nanti jaga diri. InsyaAllah...

4. Skip Brooklyn.(maksud dia, jgn tak pergi ke tempat ini) This ’90s throwback will separate you from being any local, who knows you get more space, less stress and pressure — and frequently better-value meals — at Brooklyn restaurants in Boerum Hill, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Ditmas Park or Williamsburg.*quoting Carrey Bradshaw from SATC The Movie - "Brooklyn is the new Manhattan". This is where I'm planning to stay - www.zip112.com ....the view from the balcony is just so amazing!

5. Take a double-decker bus tour. If you want to see New York by one, go ahead. But don’t expect any street-cred points looking down from the open top. New Yorkers prefer buying an all-day subway/bus pass, getting a free bus map, and crisscrossing Manhattan on their own. It’s much much cheaper ($8.25 vs $39) and you don’t have to listen to the guide the whole way. *yess! memang I plan to take the subway pun. $24 for a 7-day pass.

6. Order a ‘piece of cheese pizza.’ Locals call it a slice here. You can just say, ‘gimme a slice, guy.’ And you’ll get that piece of cheese, nice and toasty. *I'll keep that in mind...but I think I always say slice anyway..

7. Go to Wall Street or Midtown on weekends. It’s deserted. Though busy, the areas are alive Monday to Friday. *not too high on my priority list of places to visit

8. Eat in Little Italy. And debate in whispers whether the waiter and people at next table are in the ‘goodfellas.’ (The diners are from Houston, though we’re not so sure about the waiter…) As dining goes, Little Italy is wayyy past its prime. Go to Roberto’s in the Belmont of The Bronx for the real(er) thing. *I don't really travel for food, anyway...anything would do

9. Point at the rats. They say there’s always a rat within five feet of you at any time in New York. You’re most likely to see them around garbage after dark or on the subway tracks any hours. Locals take it easy, and don’t point or squeal. Unless the rat’s on the subway platform. Then it’s prison rules for all. (By the way, the exact same rule applies for celebrities.) *Miri banyak tikus, aku tak heran, kecuali kalau dia merayap kat kaki aku la...celebrities...tengok muka sombong diorang tu ko nak point and squeal pun takde selera...

10. Exhibit any US geographical knowledge. Other than New York, New Jersey, Florida and California. Every other state should be confused for North Dakota. (Little known fact: New Yorkers have the world’s worst sense of geography.) *I don't really bother anyway...except for special reasons...

hehehehehe...sangat suka baca article ni sebab boleh berlagak dengan TC that I'm not as j**** as he thinks I am...

Amiin.

Random - Aku Seekor Kaldai

I feel like a mule, being asked to work, while somebody dangle a nice juicy apple in front of me. Since us mules are not really known for our intelligence, go figure. Anyway, I'm a skeptical mule with a behaviour problem.

I am sleep deprived. My house is in a mess. I spent too much time out of home and when I'm at home, guess what? I sleep and do nothing.

I hope serendipity will happen every day. ~Sigh

I figured out that by planning my journey (especially to a new country, just a rough one will do), it helps calm my anxiety a lot. I've been stranded before, and it's no fun. If you have the time, plan. That way, you also get the most out of your money and your time.

My calendar is quite packed from March-July. I'll be having plans every alternate weekends (sometimes consecutive), with some allowance of time in Miri to clean the house ;P. Nak selitkan masa untuk kenduri majlis pertunangan / pernikahan / persandingan pun tak sempat. So, kalau ada yang nak masuk meminang, time cuti Raya adalah masa paling sesuai dalam jangkamasa terdekat ini. Nak kahwin terus pun takpe, sebab saya dah beli tiket gi Krabi bulan Oktober.

I wonder how is that going to happen with my hectic March-July calendar. Ahaks ahaks. Di mana kamu sih?

Itu jela...nak balik rumah. Maggi saya sudah kembang.

gambar selingan - the queen and her lowly servants..hehehe

oleh sebab queen tu jahat, gorilla je yg nak jadi pakwe dia...huhu, tetapi mereka bahagia bersama

Planning a Wedding

picture from: www.tipdeck.com

I have a knack for organizing things. Most of the times in the dictator directive kind of way. Unfortunately my organizational skills are selective on things that catch my interest only – which doesn’t have anything to do with my career but mainly on organizing events.

The way I think is also very simple. Sampai sekarang I don’t understand why there is a lot of pening-pening kepala pasal nak organize events, especially among my family members. I think they just like to be complicated.

I’m helping my sister plan her wedding. Sebenarnya, tak berniat pun nak melibatkan diri (yelah, majlis orang…mana boleh menyibuk lebih-lebih), tapi melihatkan ada potensi akan over budget and to relief my sis of pre-wedding pressure so that she can think of better things to think about, I decided to offer my wisdom la. So far, I think I managed to get the door gift, invitation cards and photographer sourced albeit doing it long distance from Miri. I’ve laid out some options but the couple still need to make their choice (sis, you can always opt for dad’s suggestion to use manila card though...hahaha pun intended). Saya juga telah membebel menyediakan khidmat nasihat secara percuma with regards of what else to prepare.

So, you people out there, kalau malas nak memeningkan kepala untuk buat apa-apa event ke….kepala saya ini bersedia untuk pening atau pecah untuk merancang event anda. Tentang charge pula, tak mahal….maybe dalam 3 – 5% of the total cost of your event. (hahahaha….biar betul aku ni, tapi reasonable tak charge itu?)… okla kan.

If you guys ada baca Mitch Albom’s “Five People You Meet in Heaven”…the 4th person that Ed met after he died is his late wife. Her heaven is one that is full of weddings everywhere, because she loves the festivities and the bond of love that they symbolize. I love that chapter, I think it should be an inspiration to all wedding/event planner wannabes. Oooohhhh…..tiba-tiba rasa macam si Jennifer Lopez from the movie “Wedding Planner” pulak. <3 <3 <3

Kalau berminat, contact saya ok?

P/S: Sorry if the title is quite misleading…wakakakakaka
