I call it the power of positive thinking.
Sometimes, it might not be easy, especially at the most despairing moments, but reminding myself to stay positive certainly has done me a lot of good and luck.
I came across this book called "The Book of Awesome" in this month's Reader's Digest. It's a blog-to-book compilations by Neil Pasricha. He started the blog, www.1000awesomethings.com at the time when he was in a marriage heading in the wrong direction, to remind himself of all the good things in life.
These can be everyday things that we take for granted, or little things that make us happy. For me, one of them would be custard buns at tea time! :) ...they're really 'Barney Stinson-awesome'!!
Some snippets of awesome things from the book:
- When you hear someone's smile over the phone.
- When your taxi driver knows all the best shortcuts.
- Licking the batter off the cake mixer.
- Your favorite old comfy T-shirt.
- Finally peeing after holding it forever.
- Waking up and realising it's Saturday.
- Hearing a song that reminds you of someone you love. (or loved)
- Smiling and thinking of good friends who are gone.
Maybe I should write something like that too in this blog....like what makes me happy today.
Being home to see my little brother and little sister in a pillow fight. Cute.
